8 Great things to do in the 2010 Christmas/holiday season

Christmas is a magical time in the Vancouver area with all kinds of Christmas and other Los holiday events are fun for the whole family. And you need pay the season to enjoy much money. Many events are free or budget-friendly. 8 Great things in the 2010 Christmas holiday season below.

1. Bright nights - Stanley Park
At Stanley Park's bright nights over a million lights turn the forest, train and children farmyard into a winter wonderland. Access to the Plaza is free, but you have to pay to train the bright lights, or give kids farmyard ($9 for adults, $6 for 2-18 youth and seniors). More info.

2. Woodword's Windows walking tour
Woodward's Windows were a Vancouver Christmas tradition since the 1960s shoppers delight with holiday scenes and characters from past years. For the first time in 17 years, these historical treasures are displayed in the newly renovated Woodward's building and five other locations in Vancouver downtown core are. The hike to visit six grand displays that will take on a nostalgic journey back in time. It's completely free, so bundled, grab a warm egg nog and enjoy. More info.

3. Holiday or events & shopping at Lonsdale Quay
Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver is a wonderful festive place to do your Christmas shopping with all kinds of free events for the whole family, including the 3rd annual gingerbread house contest, weekend craft fairs, visits with Santa and kids activities (Dec. 18-19 only) and holiday entertainment. 4. Carol ships parade of lights
The popular Carol ships parade of lights in its 49th year and runs from December 4-23. The vessels can be seen mainland locations in the lower from a number of Prime Bank page. The display has grown from a ship to over 50 participating boats. There are also plenty to enjoy shore side events in conjunction with the parade. This event is free. More info.

5. Festival of trees
The four seasons hotel the Pacific Centre Mall host the Festival of trees, decorated and a "must-see" displays the most beautiful and creative Christmas trees. It is as a fundraiser for BC children's Hospital Foundation held. The event free of charge and for a donation of $2, children and adults can vote for your favorite structure. People, more than $20 donations receive a donation receipt. More info.

6. Vancouver Christmas market
The Christmas market in Vancouver is an authentic outdoor German Christmas market village is located on the Plaza at the Queen Elizabeth theatre. Through the festively decorated outdoor Christmas village stroll and handled, line on line of lit wooden huts offers handmade gifts and goodies. Listen to the sounds of bells, trumpeter and carolers. At night twinkle and delicious aromas of mulled wine blow thousands of Christmas lights wine and spicy gingerbread through the air. It's a bargain, only $5 per adult (age 13 +), $2 for children (age 7-12) and for children 0-6 years free. If you go Mon-Fri 11-2 pm, it's only $2 for adults. More info.

7. Canyon lights on the Capilano suspension bridge
This event is the Capilano suspension bridge in North Vancouver every year with even more sparkling lights adorn the bridge and Rainforest for 2010 take place. From December 3, 2010 to January 2, 2011 guests on a seasonal sensory celebration treated, including gingerbread cookie decoration, seasonal music from the Christmas band, glass ornament blowing the splendour of magic lights in the whole Park with Malcolm McFadyen and of course. Proceeds from admission will be donated fire burn, Fund BC professional aiming at sensitizing 20,000 US US dollar for the Organization to support burn week in BC schools. Cost: $15 for adults, $5 for children (6-12) or $35 for a family (two adults, two children). More info.

8. 2011 Swim polar bear

This is one of the largest and oldest polar bears, the clubs in the world, keep annual new year's day floats. Prices, a commemorative coin button, costumes, courage and Peter Pantages Memorial-100 yard swim race are the highlights of 91° annual polar bear swim. Participation is free but you must register on site at English Bay bathhouse between 12: 30 and 14: 30. Swim starts at 2: 30 pm. More info.
